BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

My books! From Ateneo to Gilas Pilipinas to NU to Baby Dalupan!

Here are six of my books! The first is THE 18th BANNER that is a detailed account of the Ateneo Blue Eagles 2008 championships. That was followed by FIVE that serves as a bookend to the five-peat of Ateneo. After that was 11 DAYS IN AUGUST that relates the journey of Gilas Pilipinas from the ashes of the 2011 FIBA Asia up to the triumphant 2013 competition. Most recently was THE NU CHAMPION that tells the incredible story of the National University Bulldogs' 2014 UAAP Championship -- one of the best sports stories of our times. THE MAESTRO OF PHILIPPINE BASKETBALL was launched last Monday, October 19 (the 92nd birthday of Coach Baby Dalupan). I didn't write all the chapters though. Worked on four chapters: the early years as well as the Crispa, Great Taste, and Ateneo chapters. And out in the first quarter next year is TURN ON THE BRIGHT LIGHTS that is about a period of my life abroad. This is the only one so far that isn't a sports book.

Didn't think I'd ever write a book let alone six (there is another one coming up where I am one of the writers and another that is a biography). Really thankful and grateful.

I have one more book out before the end of the year. I can't say what it's all about though. Not yet.

And there are my comics. Have a few coming out in the next few weeks.
