BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

At the Baby Dalupan book launch

With Steve Watson, one of my all-time fave Blue Eagles; Ching Montinola who is with the Ateneo Board of Trustees; and Joey Pengson, a former Blue Eagle and current president of the Ateneo Alumni Association.

The Crispa Redmanizers! Freddie Hubalde, Joy Carpio, Bogs Adornado, Philip Cezar, Atoy Co, Rey Franco (not sure who the gentleman at the far right is).

With Robert Jaworski. My all-time favorite PBA player.

With two of the greatest coaches ever -- Baby Dalupan and Tim Cone!

Tim Cone delivered a stirring and short talk about Baby Dalupan!

The old Blue Babble Battalion led by Fr. Bert Ampil led the cheering.

With the birthday boy himself... Happy Birthday, Coach!
