BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Pic: UP Fighting Maroons dedicate win to teammates Mark Juruena and Deigo Dario

It was an emotional game for the UP Fighting Maroons yesterday as they defeated the College of Saint Benilde, 76-69, at the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup. The Maroons posted a 21-point first half lead only to see CSB cut it to six in the fourth period. They hung tough in the face of a searing rally for the win that they dedicated to the memories of the fathers of Diego Dario and Mark Juruena. I snapped this pic and shared it on Twitter and Facebook. Will write about the Maroons soon.
