Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. Former New York Yankees, from left to right, Andy Pettitte Mike Stanton, Roger Clemens, and baseball hall of fame broadcast announcer Milo Hamilton participate in a retirement ceremony for shortstop Derek Jeter before a baseball game against the Houston Astros, Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Houston. Houston gave Jeter a pair of No. 2 Yankee cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, a set of golf clubs. (AP Photo/Patric Schneider)

Once the game started, the Astros clubbed the Yankees, 2-1 to drop the punchless Bronx Bombers 0-2 to start the 2014 season.
