Help looking at a one-year NCAA suspension?
by rick olivares
MANILA, Philippines – The University of
Perpetual Help System Dalta could be facing a one-year suspension in National
Collegiate Athletic Association play if it is proven that they fielded an
ineligible player this current season.
A NCAA source familiar with the
situation related that Arvin Migote, a high school player currently playing for
Perpetual Help’s juniors volleyball team was called into question for having
enrolled in a University Athletic Association of the Philippines school before
moving back to the secondary level.
It is alleged that Migote enrolled at
Far Eastern University college but went back to high school. Philstar.com’s
NCAA source says that it remains unclear if the Altas volleyball team knew that
Migote had enrolled in college previously or if he played for FEU’s volleyball
team.
The Junior Altas are currently running
second to Emilio Aguinaldo College in the ongoing volleyball competitions with
an unbeaten 7-0 slate. Migote, is ranked as 21st in scoring.
The matter has been elevated to the
NCAA’s Management Committee that is in turn waiting for Perpetual Help’s
internal investigation before rendering judgment on the matter.
If found party to the fraudulent
transfer, UPHSD could find itself banned from all athletic play in all sports
for Season 90.
