BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

A geek moment in the PBA if you're a Blue Eagle fan

In the scheme of a PBA game, it might seem inconsequential but if you are from Ateneo like me, it is truly a geek moment. When Emman Monfort entered the game for Ginebra at 8:26 mark of the third quarter in their match versus San Mig Coffee last Sunday, November 17, that was the first time the starting point guard and center for two different Blue Eagle teams were on the floor at the same time for the same team!

Who was on the court?

LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar (2005) and Emman Monfort and Greg Slaughter (2012). The fifth Ginebra player in the game at that point was Chris Ellis.
