BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Santi Araneta gives the Ultras Kaya a birthday cake

The other day was the birthday of UFL Chairman and Kaya owner Santi Araneta (my boss too in effect since I work for the UFL). Friends and family came up with a unique cake for Santi but he thought that it was perhaps for the best that the cake be shared and given to the Ultras Kaya for their unflinching support. I was informed by former team manager Dhen Alegre that the football club will officially adopt and support the booster group (details to follow). See good things do happen in football. Here's the article that I wrote for Ultras Kaya. It came out both in Bleachers Brew and in the ABS CBN website.

And here's the cake that Santi gave to the Ultras Kaya.

And just so you know, we are planning on the second Kaya Reunion Match! Watch for details.
