One year ago, I pitched an idea to Angel Guirado while lounging around at the Discovery Suites. It was to do a football academy where he would teach Spanish football. It was an opportunity for him to earn extra money. Angel loved the idea and we set about coming up with a program. Then we recruited Juani Guirado and Carli de Murga for the project. Unfortunately, Angel and Juani left so I brought in a couple of other Spaniards -- Joaco Cañas and Rufo Sanchez. You must have heard of these two guys -- they came over with International de Madrid, led Stallion to the 2012 UFL Cup. A couple of super football dudes. You add that to what Carli has won with Global -- the 2012 UFL League trophy!
It sure helps that Carli's younger brother Junior is here in the Philippines as well so that completes the team. Thus was born La Rojita Football Academy. We hope to kick off this April at The Camp. It's all about learning to play football the Spanish way and we're teaching this to kids from ages 5 to 16. After all the best football in the world today is played in Spain! We're holding a mini-presscon next week.
