BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

At the presscon for the PFF Smart National Club Championship at the PFF

It seems that every team in the semifinals of the PFF Smart National Club Championship is in a "rebuilding mode" something that Green Archers United consultant Hans Smit wonders "if it's an excuse". Of course, the coach was joking. Even his squad has acquired all these new players in the past few months. With the addition of Chieffy Caligdong there's the new dynamic of chemistry again but so far, Da Chief has been excellent. In the last three UFL tournaments, we've seen three different champions. If you throw in this Smart National Club Championship then that means four because none of these four teams competing this weekend have won a title recently. It's a good thing too as you do not have one club monopolizing everything (I am sure Air Force and Global fans wouldn't want it that way).

Interviewing GAU's Tating Pasilan for the Tv5 newscast (they didn't have any reporter so I subbed in). Also interviewed Chieffy Caligdong and Nate Burkey. Belong Globe meets Smart. Hahaha. Hans made a joke about Ceres meeting Green Archers for the title. It could happen but let's take it one match at a time.
