BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

The UFL's official statement on the postponement of the 2012 UFL Cup Finals


The United Football League is postponing the UFL Cup Finals between Global and Stallion slated for Monday, November 19 to a later date in order to assist the Philippine Men’s Football National Team that is in the final stages of its preparations for the Suzuki Cup.

The postponement will give our national players ample time for training and recovery most especially after that momentous 1-0 win over Singapore yesterday.

This also gives this Philippine Football Federation ample time to make proper arrangements for the refurbishing of the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in the event that our national team advances to the semifinals that is a home and away series with another country.

Please find the temporary dates for the UFL Cup Finals based on how our national team fares in the group stages of the Suzuki Cup:

·      December 4 (Tuesday)
·      December 15 (Saturday)
·      December 30 (Sunday)

The UFL enjoins all UFL and football fans to support our national team in the upcoming Suzuki Cup.
