BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

RG3 throws for four touchdown passes in beating a Michael Vick-less Philadelphia Eagles

HOLDING OFF ELIMINATION, the Washington Redskins are making one last push. Robert Griffin III threw for four touchdown passes in a 31-6 crushing of the floundering Philadelphia Eagles. RG3 threw TD passes of 6, 49, 61 (see that strike to Santana Moss?), and 17 yards to keep their flickering hopes of a playoff spot alive. Next up: the 5-5 Dallas Cowboys. Photo is RG3 stiff arming the Eagles' Jason Babin. Griffin also ran for 84 yards on 12 carries. There's your franchise QB, Washington. Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty.

In the meantime, the Atlanta Falcons and the Houston Texans are both 9-1 in their respective divisions; the best in the NFL so far.
