Kaya vs.
Diliman: Time to gain some points

Kaya hopes to put some distance on
Green Archers United when they take on Diliman in the first match of the UFL
Tuesday doubleheader.
After a disappointing season opener
that ended in a 1-1 draw with Green Archers United, the Kale Alvarez-coached
club came back with a convincing 2-0 win over Forza courtesy of two goals by
Nate Burkey who incidentally has all three Kaya goals thus far.
Four points in two fixtures is not so
bad but Kaya would love to see other players get in on the scoring action in
the light of their manpower buildup in the off-season. They hope to gain the
full three points available to take the pole position in the Group B standings.
Diliman, on the other hand, figured in
a scoreless draw with Forza last Thursday, October 4. Diliman struggled against
Forza. No doubt with the firepower shortage following the movement of
practically all their mainstays to Division One club Pachanga this season.
In the match against Forza, Diliman
suited up only four players who were on their roster last season – Paolo Misa,
Keith Mordeno, Francis Liza, and Popoy Clarino. To fill the roster, they added
former Pachanga goalkeeper coach and UST player Kim Versales, as well as recent Growling Tigers Marvin Lloyd
Barquin and Severino Floresta.
They will be looking to take some
points although they hard-pressed against Kaya that has retained ball
possession for 56% of their previous games.
Green
Archers United vs. Dolphins United: Time to make good on that promise

The way Green Archers United sees it
they should have won their cup opener against Kaya. In that match, they
expertly played the long ball where forwards Tating Pasilan and Jon Melliza
blitzed the defenders for many a one-on-one with Saba Sedeghi at goal.
In their second match of Group B in
the ongoing UFL Cup, Green Archers will be up against Dolphins United, the
Philippine Christian University-based club, that will be making its cup debut.
And the Rodolfo Alicante coached club will hope to bring home its first win of
the new UFL season.
During the 2011-12 Cup, GAU made a
name for itself as a tough defensive team. This cup tournament, they had added
some playmaking in the middle with Ayi Nii Aryee (Global) and Sean Saekyul Lee
(FEU), who Alicante hopes will be able to feed those crucial final third balls
to his strikers.
Dolphins United finished ninth out of
the 12 clubs in Division Two (4-9-9) last league campaign. They hung tough in
the first half before opponents took them out in the final 45 minutes. Dolphins
are led by striker Jerome Cuyos who tallied 12 goals last season that was good for
12th place overall in UFL scoring.
Sir, Sev Floresta is also from UST. I think he's a member of the '07 champion team with the likes of Yoc Becite and Meliton Pelayo.
ReplyDeleteAnd I believe Mordeno played last year with the Dolphins.
thanks sir
my predictions:
Kaya 2 - Diliman 0
GAU 3 - Dolphins 1
