BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Thorlos socks for LeBron and me

About a month and a half ago, I began to wear Thorlos socks. They're kinda pricey because a pair fetches for about Php800! So I only got one at first because I heard good things about it. I needed it for my walking and running (as I try to work myself back into a semblance of game shape). I loved it as they were comfortable for my feet. Caution though: you have to choose thin or thick socks depending on what you're doing and what shoes you'll be wearing. And they have socks for different kinds of sports from basketball to football to mountain climbing etc.

The cool thing is I was told around the same time that LeBron James wears Thorlos socks. I didn't believe them because he never officially endorses them but he wears them. Same thing with pop star Madonna (I have no idea why I am even mentioning her here) among other celebs or personalities. When a friend of mine sent me this pic yesterday following the Miami Heat's championship clinching win in Game 5, I knew that I had to post this and affirm my belief in Thorlos socks. Socks fit for the king hahaha.

I now have three pairs -- a thick one and two thinner pairs that I use when I go to work or wherever. My thicker pair of socks I use for outdoor activity. Heard they're long lasting so we'll see how good that is as well. And while you're at it check out my Bleachers' Brew column on LBJ's ascent to the NBA throne.

  2. It's a very nice sports sock. There's a local version darlington EXPD I think. I should say about 70% same as thorlo
