BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006
Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.
True, Pasilan seriously should've went with the national team, he really has good skills and dominates with his left foot, he really is like Messi for his skills but not really that great and Deyto should've started for Guam....
ReplyDeleteI think participation in the Azkals should always be based on MERIT. Meaning if the locals want to have a consistent spot on the team, then it is up to them to raise their game and beat the Fil-Foreigners for the spot.
ReplyDeleteOnce you stop doing that, then it will not be good for the Azkals as the quality of their game will suffer.
If the locals want playing time so bad, why not the PFF make an "Azkals Team B" or something, composed exclusively of local players? Then let's see them compete at an international level.
As for Tating Pasilan, I think he is a good player, but I feel he is a bit one dimensional whose offense is based only on speed. I am not convinced about the other important aspects of his game like Passing and Ballhandling. GAUFC experimented with him on the Midfield in one of their previous games, and he was a non-factor in that game.
