BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

  1. Sir fan ka rin pala ng Die Mannschaft! :D

I wish Weiss will field more UFL players. Some of those in the line-up will probably not be available when the Suzuki Cup comes. Anyway here's to hoping the friendlies will be another set of enriching and uplifting games for this team.

  2. With all due respect, I don't think the level of play will go up if you just field in local players. You don't know what psychological effect can bring if the guys train and play with teammates from Premiere League, Bundesliga and Eredivisie. I bet without these Fil-foreign guys, the level of play will just be static. You need foreign catalyst to improve the level of play

  3. There are only 4-5 local players in the squad now , when they play Indonesia maybe only 1 local player in the squad ?

  5. Well, you have to earn your place in the team. This is competition. It defeats the purpose of competition if you give the spot to players just because they are local. Nobody owes them anything
