BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

At the Thanksgiving dinner for the Chelsea Soccer School

We held a Thanksgiving dinner and launch of the Chelsea Soccer School in the Philippines at the Bellevue in Alabang. While waiting for dinner, Chelsea's Managing Director for Asia Adrian New joins Journal's TJ Jurado, Inquirer's Cedelf Tupas, Phil and James Younghusband, and Simon Greatwich in watching the last five minutes of that stupendous match between Man City and QPR.

Post-event photo op with Chelsea Soccer School Hong Kong's Paul Kam, Phil Younghusband, Chelsea's Ian Woodruffe, Cathy Nazareno-Rivilla, Chelsea's Adrian New, Tina Palacios, James Younghusband, and Jojo Durian.

The Younghusband brothers relocated to the Philippines on August 18, 2009. It was a huge move for them and as the brothers told the story, they had to do non-football jobs to earn a living. Almost three years later, football has grown exponentially and now it is possible to have a career in the sport. Phil recounted an amazing story where he was thinking of buying with his own money some laser technology that is used during the Blues' training. But it costs quite a lot. Maybe soon.

With Alexx Esponga, James Younghusband, Len Tupas, TJ Jurado, and Cedelf Tupas. The food at Bellevue was darn good. Hahaha.
