BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

One with the 96 Run at UP Diliman

Today, Sunday is also the 22nd anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster where 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death during the FA Cup semifinals between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England. The disaster as per the Taylor Report cited the lack of police control of the standing terraces at the stadium. Families of the victims have been seeking justice ever since. We, some Liverpool fans based here in Manila, did a sympathy run for the Hillsborough-Anfield Run that was held on the same day in England. Ang daming hindi gumising! Hahaha. There was this cute girl in Liverpool gear also running but we didn't know who she was. And there was this guy in a Manchester United tee. I  thought about clubbing him. Hahaha

We did an 11K jog/walk/run at the University of the Philippines after which we all had (buffet) breakfast at Sweet Inspirations along Katipunan.
