BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

He's a star! Stephon Marbury leads Beijing to the CBA title.

You can say what you want about Stephon Marbury but this is a great sports story. He picked up the tatters of his broken NBA career, went to China where he led the Beijing Ducks (in his third season there) to the 2012 CBA title over seven-time champion Guangdong with a 4-1 series win. Want to read more of what Starbury has done in China, then read this excellent article from Sports Illustrated.

I took the pictures from Marbury's twitter account so thanks for that. Check out also the youtube video that was taken after he brought Beijing to the finals. It's powerful beyond words.
