BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

That ceremonial kick-off prior to the Azkals-UFL Alyansa-Internacional de Madrid Football Charity Game

Right before the game between Internacional de Madrid and the Azkals-UFL Alyansa, the guests -- PFF President Nonong Araneta, Philippine Red Cross Chairman Dick Gordon, Spanish Embassy Charge D'Affairs Moria Molina, Department of Social Works and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman, and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim were asked to participate in the ceremonial kickoff. And Ms. Molina did more than kick the ball. She kicked off her shoe. However she was so cool in handling it that it was disarming. More power to you, Ms. Molina!
