BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. Pre-match presscon for Dili Kamo Nag-iisa @ the Discovery Suites

At the pre-match press conference for the Dili Kamo Nag-iisa football charity match. This is at the media briefing with my colleague Craig Burrows discussing matters with media.

Applauding the opening statement by Discovery Suites General Manager David Pardo de Ayala as he delivered his message in both English and Spanish. Mr. Pardo de Ayala is from Columbia and has been a resident of the Philippines for the last 15 years. With Dan Palami, Team Manager, Azkals; Stephen Newman, Chairman, Internacional de Madrid, and Javier Marquez, coach, Internacional de Madrid. Behind us is Chaco Molina of Fundacion Santiago who interpreted the Spanish statements for all.

Internacional de Madrid brought three special jerseys to be auctioned off at the Kaholeros Facebook Page. What I am holding is a Real Madrid jersey signed by Cristiano Ronaldo. The middle jersey held by Ebong Joson is a Real Madrid jersey signed by THE ENTIRE Real Madrid Team. The red Spanish jersey held by Craig Burrows is signed by Iker Casillas.

Posing with the Internacional de Madrid coach and players. Standing: Stephen Newman, me, Juan Marquez, Sergio Sardina "Sardi" Olalla, and Craig Burrows. Semi-crouch: Ebong Joson, Rufo Sanchez, the team's leading scorer this season with 10 goals, and team captain Juli Bautista.
