BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Letran Knights at Yellow Cab

One of my assignments for the next issue of REBOUND is a feature on the Letran Knights' season. I have been fortunate to become good friends with the team (since Kojak Melegrito, RJ Jazul and Rey Guevarra were playing) and their head coach Louie Alas. I have been to a Knights' practice, huddles, dugout, and other functions over the years to be able to fully grasp what this team is all about.

Last night, the Knights beat the San Sebastian Stags in a thrilling Game One of their Final Four series at the San Juan Arena. Their recovery meal was at Yellow Cab in Greenhills. One of my cousins (a third cousin is a Letran alum and supporter) treated the team out for pasta and pizza.

Watch out for the next issue of REBOUND. If you don't have the latest issue (with San Sebastian's Big Three on the cover) do yourself a favor and get a copy.
