BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Off to Malaysia to watch Liverpool FC

Am off to Malaysia today, Thursday, to watch the friendly match between Liverpool and Malaysia on Saturday July 16. The Reds will be up against K Rajagopal's 2010 AFF Suuzki Cup champions at the Bukit Jalil Stadium. The team will arrive a few hours after I touch down in KL. They'll have practice at 7pm where those with special passes will be allowed to attend. I am thankful that I have been given accreditation to cover the match. Now if that means I'll get to interview any of them remains to be seen. But I am looking forward to Friday with all the activities in KL. Earlier, LFC beat Guangdong Sunray Cave of China 4-3 in the debut of former Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam for Kenny Dalglish's side. Will be reporting my activities in KL.
