BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Why Yachts? Why not?

I once watched America’s Cup on television and came away enthralled. I honestly have no idea why when I am normally not interested in water sports. Chalk that up to fear of swimming in an ocean. But I know someone who joins yacht races and I also know someone whose father builds yachts.

About two months ago, I came across an article about Wally Hermes Yachts and I thought to myself, “this is the Stealth fighter version of yachts.” There was a lot of emphasis on the environmental aspects of the yacht’s construction where they try to reduce on-board energy consumption.

The principle behind the WHY Yachts is about using natural energy and storing and using it properly. Amazing isn’t it?

It is only an artist’s rendition but I’m sure the real thing will look even more awesome. Check this out: http://why-yachts.com/
