BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Rizal Memorial Football Stadium seat plan & entrance/exit areas

For those watching the Sri-Lanka-Philippines July 3 match at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, kindly take note of the seat plan as well as the entrances and exits. Please be reminded that ABSOLUTELY NO DSLR CAMERAS OR VIDEO CAMERAS will be admitted. There will be no depository area for cameras or bags so you've been warned by FIFA (they're strict believe me). And NO backpacks or even umbrellas. There will be food stalls inside the stadium so don't bring any inside. If the weather isn't agreeable, raincoats are permitted but not umbrellas. Save yourselves the trouble. It's a football match.

There'll also be a side event outside:
Soccer Mania is a football-themed event, which will be held from July 1 to 3, 2011. This is pre-event is to  to hype up the Game for the FIFA Qualifying Match between the Azkals and Sri Lanka Team on July 3, 2011.

This event will be held at M. Adriatico Street, Malate, Manila, in front of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Soccer Mania will involve a series of free football clinics for kids 12 years old and above. Here, we will be commissioning the help of the Futkaleros, an organization that promotes the game of “Futkal,” which is short for “Football sa Kalye.” They will serve as the coaches in the football clinics.

To join the clinics, all the participants need to do is sign their names at the registration table. Registration is absolutely FREE. The clinics will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on July 1-2; and from 8:00am to 10:00am on July 3.

  4. It's really weird that they don't allow DSLR. I can't understand why.

  5. Because most digicams aren't good enough to catch live action. You'll be able to take good still shots of the crowd and players that are not moving.

  6. im german-fil i studied all of my high school sa germany and since germany is as we all know sobrang football nation talaga and halos nakailang panood na ako sa stadium ng football matches yung sinabi ng poster na rules ay actually the same to ALL high level FIFA matches. nung nasa germany pa ako never akong nakakita ng mga nanonood na may dalang D/SLR or video cameras. trust me and the poster whe we say that FIFA is really strict about rules hindi talaga natin ito masyado maiintindihan kasi hindi tayo nagkakariot sa mga football matches
