BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

The Ateneo Football League's first cup is done! Congrats to all.

The first ever Ateneo Football League cup is over. Thanks to the 33 teams (and some 500 players who participated). And super thanks to our AFL management crew who expertly handled the tournament even if I was off for the PFF Suzuki Under-23 National Cup. The finals were held last weekend and congrats to the winners. We are planning our next tournament that will take place in either August or September of this year. Stay tuned for more details but we can tell you now that this is an open tournament where players from other schools can participate. And a huge thanks to my bud and AFL partner Rely San Agustin. I owe ya on this, dude. Thanks also to Ricky Palou, Fr. RB Hizon S.J, Raul Albarece as well as to Gatorade and Nike.
