BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Wearing my Daniel Bennett

That's me wearing Daniel Bennett's 2010 Suzuki Cup jersey. Photo taken outside the HMV store in Raffles Link. I got to interview Bennett in 2009 in Singapore. He plays central defense for Singapore and has helped them to two Tiger Cups (now the Suzuki Cup). Born in England, he moved to Singapore when he was two years old. The Everton fan plays pro football in the S-League where he has been a part of four champion teams for the Singapore Armed Forces Football Club. Prior to settling back in Singapore, he also played for Wrexham in the English Football League where he helped them to a title. I had a photo taken with the football in Vietnam during the last Suzuki Cup.
