BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

My votes for the 2011 PBA All-Star Game

Who I voted for in the 2011 PBA All-Star Game in Boracay. A ticket holder is allowed one vote per game and can only vote for five names (three on the list of forward-centers and two on the guards list). I did and for my blog purposes, am adding “a bench” to the 14-man line-up.

My votes for South starters:
Joe Devance
Sonny Thoss
Jay Washington
Jimmy Alapag
James Yap

My nominations to the South bench: Kelly Williams, JR Quinahan, Danny Seigle, Cyrus Baguio, Chris Ross, Peter June Simon, Ronald Tubid, Dondon Hontiveros, and Erik Menk.

My votes for North starters:
Rabeh Al-Hussaini
Ali Peek
Rudy Hatfield
Mac Cardona
LA Tenorio

My nominations to the North bench: Harvey Carey, Gabby Espinas, Ranidel de Ocampo, Gary David, Alex Cabagnot, Willie Miller, Ryan Reyes, Tony dela Cruz, and Sol Mercado.

  2. I think one huge reason why I picked him out is for his basketball skills. Not anything else. It's like voting for LeBron. Should he deserve to be an MVP or what -- even if I do not like him -- I will vote for him. Why? Because if he does deserve the honor then let it be so. Unless it is included in the criteria that he must be of stellar qualities. The same thing with Mac. He is one heck of a basketball player.
