BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Jimmy Briand super goal

My favorite French Ligue 1 team Olympique Lyonnaise vs. Nancy in a 4-0 demolition a few weeks ago. The bicycle kick by forward Jimmy Briand is spectacular following a beautiful cross by defender Anthony Reveillere. AS Nancy goalkeeper Gennaro Bracligiano nearly got to it but the shot was way too powerful to save. Fantastique!

Spreading the gospel of Lyon here http://www.olweb.fr/

But which one is better? The goal by Briand or Diego Pais of CS Cartagines in a match vs Herediano in the Costa Rica Primera Division?
