BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Loose tweets

LeBron James really can't stop talking, huh? Kinda low when his former team is down. After that tweet about the 80's and parity, you'd think he'd be a little more careful. But I guess it's his right and he does relish his being a heel. In case you have been living on the moon, the Los Angeles Lakers decimated the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-57 in a match at the Staples Center yesterday. It was the Cavs' 11th straight loss and cast a pall on their season from hell. Obviously, it was directed at Cavs owner Dan Gilbert. But again, I am all for transferring teams but the manner in which James took his talents to South Beach showed no class. It's of consolation to know that some things in this world are consistent.

  1. it may have been directed at Dan Gilbert, but his ex-teammates are still the victims here. i mean, who suffers the humiliation the most of having been blown out viciously than the players themselves. it sounded like Lebron didn't care or even relished the thought of his old friends being dispirited and put down. for me a bit of that is implied somewhere in that tweet. what disgusts me the most though is his being childish with this and inconsiderate/tactless (not thinking about what his old cavs mates feel) in the process!
