BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

King Kenny is back. Here's hoping he can recreate the magic.

Kenny Dalglish takes over from Roy Hodgson as Liverpool FC manager after a very trying season where the Reds sunk even deeper into the mire. As a player for LFC for 12 years, he helped the team win seven league titles, three European Cups (today's UEFA Champions League), and five domestic cups. During his first go-around with Liverpool as manager, he won three league titles and two FA Cups. It was a different English league then. Nevertheless, here's hoping he can recreate that magic. Good luck, Kenny. And thanks Hodgie. Just bad circumstances. Good luck with the next. As for LFC, stuck in 12th place. Gotta make a stand now and make your move.

  1. i hope lfc's fortunes will change with their new manager. carraghers return from injury would also help but that seems not possible for a while, they sure need his prowess at defense.
dalglish's baptism will be away at blackpool at midweek, not an easy one but am pretty sure lverpool will win this one. 2-0 GO REDS!!!
