BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

A Slice of Heaven redux: Life and football in Iloilo

While waiting for some stuff from Jakarta, here are some old stories (that also came out in Business Mirror) about some time spent in Iloilo shooting a short indie film about football. The post-production was put on hold because of Typhoon Ondoy (a lot of the material was lost) and we will begin the post-prod of that this January. One of the biggest problems I faced was re-writing the script (I lost all copies and back-ups in the flood and when my computer was stolen). I only remember bits and pieces on how I wrote it. All I know is that it was perfect the first time around. There's a reason why I figure in all of this. But I just hope to recreate the magic when it was first put together.

In the meantime, for all the newcomers to Bleachers' Brew, I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did experiencing them.
