BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Hanoi Diary Day 7 Going southeast

We all went out yesterday to go shopping at the Latin Quarter. The entire party bought bags, shoes, and trinkets. Stuff to give back home.

Today, we're leaving the Sheraton for Thien Truong Stadium which is a two-hour drive from where we are. The thing is, the Philippines' match against Myanmar will be on Wednesday evening at 730 (Hanoi time which is one hour behind the Philippines) which is the same time as the game between Singapore and Vietnam at My Dinh. The matches are held at the same time to prevent match fixing. Now since we are not the hosts that means we have to move elsewhere.

We leave at 8am this morning so we have to pack our gear. We're not bringing everything as we'll leave the others here and come back for it after our evening match. We fly back to Manila on Thursday and I should be home around 5pm.

On the way to Nam Dinh City, a DVD of the film Road Trip was played. It was like a traveling frat bus. Hahaha. Hilarious. Couldn't sleep. Mainly because I was filming and taking pictures of our trip. I was also thinking of what to write.

When we arrived, it was around 1030am. Am staying in a small room with free internet. Working on Thank God! At the Sheraton, the internet bill went up to VD 1.7million! Hahaha. So much for being a millionaire! Spend like one too. Hahaha.

I hope star sports will show it live, at least in the Philippines. Come on! The Azkals are making headlines so that alone should compel them to show it! Anyway, go Azkals!
