BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Japanese basketball Olympian Hirofumi Numata visits the PBA

To the right of Ateneo de Manila University Athletics Director is Hirofumi Numata (I think he's like 6'9"), a Japanese basketball Olympian who once faced the likes of Sonny Jaworski and Freddie Webb (among others) in international competition. Numata's companions are Japanese coaches who helped the Philippine Team get settled in Busan. Allan Caidic recognized them when they were guests of the PBA last Wednesday and the Triggerman spent several minutes catching up with them. Thanks to Arvin Lim for the photo! Much appreciated, dude.
