BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Five reasons why I am excited about the Pacquiao-Margarito fight



It's on!!! Five reasons why I am excited about this:
1. We get to see Manny Pacquiao fight again. It's like saying, I got to watch Michael Jordan play. He's one of the greatest. Besides, we gotta enjoy this. He probably has one more fight left in him.
2. Since he's up against Antonio Margarito, there's enough time to keep making fun of Pretty "Stoopid" Boy Chickenweather. Bwahahaha!
3. Margarito will not fight like Joshua Clottey.
4. This fight is a world-class event. Gotta take pride in that.
5. Manny -- should he win -- will be adding to his legend. Taking names on his way to the Hall of Fame. As it is, he is the greatest Filipino boxer ever. Bar none.
