BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Snapshots from Cebu

Am in Cebu to cover the Great Lapu Lapu Marathon. This is the second year they are hosting this and it's in line with the city's dream of turning it into a popular sports town. Race organizer Noy Jopson told me today that 3,800 runners have signed up. There are also runners from out of town who are participating. The route goes right through the Fernan Bridge that is real beautiful. Wish it won't rain.

I did some sightseeing this morning since the event is on Sunday. I have a lot more pics many of which are in my Facebook. I have no idea what to do tomorrow. I'm supposed to run but how do I do that while lugging a camera and videocam? Figure I'll be mostly walking, doing a little running then crawling to the finish line.
