BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

It's not in honor of Dave Bing I assure you. You can bing it.

Does this mean that if I want to look up Sue Bird, I gotta bing her?

The Seattle Bing, er, Storm is now the third team in the WNBA to put a corporate sponsor's logo in front of their jersey. The first was the Phoenix Mercury with Lifelock that was followed by the Los Angeles Sparks with the Farmers Insurance Group.

Guess the United States is finally following the footsteps of Major League Soccer. Of course, all over the world it has been that way.

Too late though, "Google" has entered the world's lexicon much the way "Xerox" did. Only "Google" is bigger.

If the Storm win the WNBA title, then can we say, "Bing-O"?

Bad joke to start the day.
