BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Daybreakers

Took the picture above at the Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge that connects Lapu Lapu and Mandaue Cities. The race began with not much light yet and by the time the runners made their way up this picturesque suspension bridge, the sun was peeking out. I thought it made for a beautiful contrast.
The picture below was when we were getting started. This was the 10K batch of runners that had caught up with my slow pace. At this point I was getting frustrated. I tried to run a bit but since I was carrying two cameras I thought it was crazy. So at one point, I stopped and hitched on board the ABS CBN vehicle to cover the run properly. Shooting on the fly. Learning how to fly.
