BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

FEU Tamaraws back-up goalkeeper Bricks Caballero ran up the pole to bring down the FEU flag and run around the pitch like crazy after their 1-nil win over UST in the recently concluded UAAP Men's Football Finals. (photo by Ateneo and FEU alum Brossi Gonzales). I was behind the UST goal when Caballero scampered up the pole to haul down the flag. I thought it was amazing how quickly he made it up and down. I was chatting with Ompong Merida at that time and didn't snap a pic. I asked Brossi to take it since he was on the pitch. Great shot, dude!
