BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Friday Stuff

We are inviting all past and present footballers to attend the "Pass the Hat for Coach Lloyd Lim" Benefit Football Game on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the La Salle Greenhills pitch. Game time is at 6pm. Entrance is P100 and proceeds will go to the treatment of Coach Lloyd. Additional contributions will be much appreciated.

Don't forget to bring your football gear!

On the topic of football, Indonesian football fans are plain excited about the upcoming World Cup. In the picture above, they gathered in downtown Jakarta (in the rotunda) dressed and made up in the colors of different countries participating in the Finals.

Music plug: Check out The Cribs, an English indie rock band with former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. He's on their fourth album Ignore the Ignorant. And I reco Wiliamsburg, Brooklyn band Chairlift. If you bought the iPod Nano 4th Gen, you'll recognize their music.

There's a sale at Fully Booked Gateway this March 13 & 14. Up to 20% off on CODED items.
