BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Damned find. Fifty bucks, you say?

Here's something for English football fans and if you did like the book and film The Damned United. The Nottingham Forest FC Brian Clough Years 1975-1993 Official Memorabilia Pack is available at the fourth floor of the National Bookstore Super Branch in Cubao. For only PhP50 bucks! Yep, for real. Fifty smackers. The sad thing though is they have three copies left. You gotta sift for it in the back. It filled with replicas of magazines, programmes, fanzines, match day tickets and other stuff that's golden for a football fan. Other books -- Kevin Keegan, Roy Keane, George Best, Man United, Glasgow Rangers, and Liverpool FC ranging from PhP50-75!
