BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

The Falcons sure could have used him

Philadelphia in a few months has become some sort of Second Chance City. It began with the Eagles signing Michael Vick after he was finally cleared to play after spending some time in prison for the dogfighting charges. Now it's Allen Iverson.

But the 7-4 Eagles marched into the Georgia Dome in Atlanta where Vick once ruled as a three-time Pro Bowler. And he came away with his first two touchdowns since 2006. He ran for a five-yard TD and passed for another five-yarder that completed a 37-4 rout of the undermanned home team.

As for Vick, it was a moment in time, as he described. Second chance, indeed.
