BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Pre-game inside the Smart Gilas Pilipinas dugout

Magi Sison stretches while Japeth Aguilar laces up his kicks. CJ Giles is lost in his music while Al Ramos and "Gagamba Boy" Jason Ballesteros talk about the current college wars.
Magi Sison is interviewed for CS9 and BTV. The University of the Philippines' center is enjoying his time with the national team. "Favorite team ko sa PBA ay yung Ginebra nung naglalaro sila Vince Hizon, Bal David, Noli Locsin, at Marlou Aquino. Ngayon may chance ako makalaro against Ginebra. Pero hindi ba dream 'to -- makalaro para sa bayan?"

Andy Mark Barroca and Dylan Ababou loosen up prior to the match. Said Ababou, "Wala si Greg (Slaughter)? Ako muna si Greg!" Everyone laughed.
Barroca and Jayvee Casio joke around with SBP's Bernie Atienza.
CJ Giles gets his muscles loosened up while entranced to his music. "It's good to be with my old teammates again," smiled the American.
