It's a Thursday and the most pressing concern of the day (for those who know their priorities snicker snicker) are the game tickets for Sunday.
There are two separate tickets: first game and second game. The purchase of one ticket doesn't mean that you can watch the other. So that kills the reserving of seats which is unfair to begin with. So that means people will have to line up and make the dash for it when the gates enter. So if you ask me, the Ateneo-La Salle match should have been first because there will be more people watching than the first one which is FEU-UE if I am not mistaken.
So why the switcheroo? I can only surmise ratings. Hahahaha.
So why was this new format adopted where there are two separate tickets? This was based on US NCAA games where four teams play in one venue (e.g. Final Four) and as soon as the first match is done, the venue is emptied of all people. In the US, it just takes a short while for everyone to vacate the premises. Why there is like a two-hour gap between matches I don't know.
Someone asked if this was done so Ateneans and La Sallians will have more tickets, then why are they still being sold at Araneta? Kayo naman o. Cottage industry yan. Kailangan kumita lalo na yung mga suki nilang scalper.
Whether this format works is anyone's guess. But it will be mighty interesting for all of us to be sure.
My piece two weeks ago on the life of a ticket scalper:
