BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

They spun a web for me...

I forgot to post this yesterday: (from Noli Eala while at Geneva): FIBA special commission hearing began yesterday. BAP reps no show. SBP represented by Governor Oscar Moreno, Vice Chair Ricky Vargas, Exec. Director Noli Eala, Atty. Marivic AƱnonuevo, POC Chairman Monico Puentevella.

Gov. Moreno took exception about the creation and the composition of the committee. Mr. Vargas asked FIBA not to suspend the Philippines.

More details as I get it.

QB trouble
Michael Vick was released from Federal custody and he's free to resume his pro football career if there are any takers.

Steve McNair was drunk and asleep when he was shot by his girlfriend. I know of don't drink and drive but not... don't drink and fight with an angry girlfriend.

Brett Favre is what looking good to the Minnesota Vikings? For now. Until his petulance rears its ugly head.

Meanwhile in a Galaxy not too far away...
David Beckham is unhappy about getting booed at the Home Depot Center. Well, for one, he handled the AC Milan transfer rather poorly and if he thinks his biggest contribution is selling jerseys then he can stuff it.  So if the home crowd wants they can cheer every player but Becks. That's worse.
