BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Pinstripes Rising -- A Letter from NYC

Rick!

Thanks for the mail. Like I always say, when are you going back here? You're a fool to be missing all these Yankee games. Are they as good as advertised? We'll find out as they head up to Fenway.

Summer's here and you know what that means -- girls trading in their coats for skirts and shorts. Good time to be in the city, homme.

It didn't work out with Suborna. But didn't you like her? hehe. She asks about you once in a while. I'll tell her to add you up in facebook.

I know you'd be having a kitten with all that news about A-Rod and Kate Hudson and I agree with you. Give the man a break for F's sake. Fuck the Post and Evening News. Damn tabloids.

I don't work for Luisa anymore. I now work at a copy center near the Rock. Not far from where we used to work.

How about the Yankees? They're playing well now. I know you were high on Nick Swisher and you were right. He's been huge for them. At least Tex is starting to hit. If they take three from the Red Sox then I would be willing to go on record to say that they can make it all the way to the ALCS.

I've only been to the new stadium three times so far. Don't miss the old stadium, man. Nothing like a cleaner place even if its gone corporate. Can you believe all those home runs? Playas are jus stroking it out of the field like it was the home run chase been the juice brothers -- big mac and sosa. You still wear your Jeters?

I was able to hunt down a replica Paul O'Niell at the Big Man's store in Jersey City but are you willing to part with $200? Its got Paulie's sig. How do Iknow it's forreal simple bro. It got a certificate. You know the store's rep anyways, right? They're good on stuff n memorabilia, right?

I saw Nick the other day at the Village. Can you believe it, man? He didn't recognize me? WTF! Stuck up rich bastard!

Did you read about that Boston guy who is a Yankee fan? He actually planted Yankee Stadium grass on Fenway's greens! Hahahaha.

Write again, bro. And you've got a great blog. Keep at it.

Sam
