BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Guaranteed to tell time for the next 150 years

Here's the Ateneo Sesqui watch courtesy of Swatch. It's available for PhP 3,500 at the OUDAR Office at Alingal Hall (in front of the Ateneo dorms).

And there's the coffeetable book written by Fr. Arcilla S.J. 150 The Ateneo Way. I already got a copy last Sunday and simply love it. Am getting a second copy for my pop. There are a lot of great photographs of the old school all the way from Intramuros to Padre Faura leading up to Loyola Heights; photos many have never seen before including one the Spanish Jesuits learning English before the transfer of the school to the New York-Maryland Province of the Society.

Here's the link to it. All the souvenir items are available at the OUDAR (Office of Alumni Development and Relations) office. When you call the Ateneo trunkline @ 426-6001, ask for OUDAR or Ida Solis.
