BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

UE Red Warriors & DLSU Green Archers in Fil-Oil Pre-Season Tournament

UE Red Warriors: Yes they will be good. But now that Marcy Arellano is no longer around to self-destruct at the most inopportune times, this team just might be better than last year's squad. But if no one steps up in the place of Hans Thiele then these guys are in trouble.

Toto Bandaying
Paul Zamar
James Martinez
Luke Tagarda
Elmer Espiritu
Rudy Lingganay
JM Noble
Erwin Duran
Raffy Reyes
Parry Lllagas
John Alabanza
Jai Flores
Kenneth Alcibar
Paul Lee
Gino Etrone
Val Acuña
Roy Sumang
John Rey Sumido
Ritz Cagalanan
Kit Rosopa

Sumido is the keeper here. He was supposed to play for National University but he crossed the Gastambide for Recto because someone rolled the dice.

No more Thiele means Lllagas and Espiritu have to step up even more.

DLSU Green Archers -- The best recruiting class of the year just ensured them more championship appearances if not titles to come.
Arvie "The Scholar" Bringas
Philip Paredes
Gab Banal
Joel Tolentino
Sam Marata
Jed Manguera
Maui Villanueva
Simon Atkins
LA Revilla
Bader Malabes
Joshua Webb
Rejan Lee
PJ Walsham
Kish Co
Marko Batricevic
Ferdinand
OJ Cua
PJ Barua
Hyram Bagatsing
James Mangahas
Manoj Chandumal

Some of these guys will go down to Team B. Care to hazard a guess? Chandumal, Cua, Lee, Batricevic. But that's 21 listed above. So one more. My guess... Manguera.
