BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Kick off

This is the cover of Vingt Trois, a local football magazine. It costs Php 100. I'll be writing for them beginning the second issue. Any inquiries about the mag kindly email me.

Oh, the title means "twenty-three" in French. It refers to the total number of people on the pitch during a game. And the poster for the first issue is Liverpool's Fernando Torres! All the photos are licensed and not illegally used.

Good job by Michael and Chris on this. The next one's a blast!

In football related news, Aris Caslib is helping with the formation of the new Men's National Team. The details and names of the new squad should be out by next week.
