BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

PBA scuttlebutt

When LA Tenorio was informed that he was being traded to Alaska, he was told outside Jollibee along Katipunan. Imagine! Very informal and so impolite. He asked that person, "Ano ba ang hindi ko nagawa para sa San Miguel?" The said person could not answer and only scratched his head.

The trade as we all know it was a dud. And San Miguel has been sending feelers for a possible trade once more involving Tenorio. In the words of a coach from Alaska, "Binigyan niyo nga kami ng regalo tapos isasauli namin?"

Well, word is Wesley Gonzales is on his way out of San Miguel too. Not confirmed though... to Burger King.

Can coaches be traded too? Please.

After Game 5 between Alaska and Talk N Text, LA had to be brought to the hospital for some fluids owing to dehydration. Something about playing a lot of minutes and all that pressure. If you recall, he had that same problem back in Ateneo.

Hmm. Some people from this er... whatever have been giving Coach Chot Reyes a hard time. Seems to me that they think they're good coaches when they're nothing but a bunch of fat slobs. Give the man credit, he led TNT to the Finals in his first year on the job.
