BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Horsing around is serious business -- Prefab Sprout

That popular basketball shooting contest H-O-R-S-E has made its way to the NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. Three NBA players will compete in the competition that will be a part of the block party on All-Star Saturday. That should be real fun.

Speaking of horsing around, the first practice day after the Ateneo Women's Volleyball Team's loss to UST -- yesterday -- the team had light practice with an impromptu game of the vets against the rookies. Man, it was just fun as they took turns trying to outdo each other with their celebration antics after a point. Kara, you were hilarious!

Went walking/jogging yesterday late afternoon. My first since my ankle injury after a pick-up game of hoops. It still hurts like crap but I needed the exercise and action coz I was getting buggy from the inactivity. Coach Roger Gorayeb joined me for one lap around the entire Ateneo campus before he joined his team for practice. Later again after all my meets, Coach!

Busy weekend for sports. There's volleyball, football, and track and field. Re: track, got this from my bud, K... begins this Thursday and winds up on Sunday (Rizal Memorial track).

An old classmate of mine, Eric Roa, added Bleachers' Brew as a blog fave in facebook. Thanks, Eric. If you're a fan of Brew, kindly add it up. It's nice to know who reads it. Muchos gracias.

First song on my iTunes this morning when Ed Formoso woke me up... The Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin.'"

"I'm glad you made it. So glad you made it. Gimme some lovin' everyday. Yeah!"
